STORY TIME: I HAD AN EMERGENCY APPENDECTOMY

Hi Guys👋! Welcome back to my blog. If you are here on my blog for the first time “WELCOME”👏. So in my last blog i made mention that i had an appendix surgery and a lot of my subscribers who never knew about it messaged me on whatsapp asking me to share my experience on my blog .I thought about it and  decided that would be a great content idea on my blog and to let people know how it all happened. So let's get down into the detailed blog for today.
It all started during my monthly flow. I was having serious cramps, I normally have bad cramps whenever I'm on my monthly flow so i assumed that was it.. It went on for 3 days straight like no jokes. So on the 4th day which was the last day, the pain became worse i couldn't walk properly, i couldn't eat, and then i felt the pain precisely on the right side of my abdomen. This was when i said this isn't period pain. Anything i ate did stay in my tummy. I was running temperature, feeling nauseous, i threw up once and  i was so restless. I'll stay up all night till day break because of the unbearable pain. Trying to find the best position that would help ease the pain but to no avail. That was when my Aunt said i need to go to the hospital for check up. So on the 5th day in the morning which was the next day, i couldn't even take my bath properly. I was in so much pain. I dressed up and went to the hospital with my cousins. It wasn't safe for my Aunt to go with me because of the COVID period. So i went to the hospital with my cousins. Like i wasn't comfortable in the car. I would scream and even started rubbing the right side of my tummy. It was that bad. No exaggerations😡.
I felt like 20 minutes was 2 hours to get to the hospital . We finally got there, you know the way Nigerian hospitals are. We had to sit and wait in a long queue. I felt like i was dieing. I would stand up, walk outside ,come back, walk round the reception, squat on the floor like i was in so much pain. It finally got to my turn, Saw the doctor, did some examinations and referred us to go for an abdominal scan. This  hospital didn't see anything in the scan. I was like God was wrong with me .The pain was not reducing and neither was it stopping. The doctor gave me an antibiotics that I'll feel better after taking it. I went home tired to eat something and took it but the pain was still the same. That was when my cousin googled my symptoms and found out that it might be Appendicitis. They quickly suggested i go to another hospital to run another scan the next day.
That night, i couldn't sleep in the house, I was crying like a baby, having running temperature and was restless till day break. This was like 2 days of not sleeping. Immediately it was 6: 30 AM on the 6th day , i got ready and we left the house around 8AM .They took me to another hospital where we had to see the doctor. Before seeing the doctor we waited because we went quite early. The doctor finally came around 10am because he had an emergency. I met him and got examined. Also referred me to do an abdominal  scan. Which took me  hours to do. After waiting for like one hour the result came out and luckily they saw that the appendix was looking  abnormal and was about to rupture. Immediately, he advised that an emergency appendectomy should be conducted. While all of this was going on i was still in so much pain. I was so scared. I had so many things running through my mind. The doctor gave me a paracetamol injection to help relieve me of the pain before the surgery. I was crying and was in so much panic. My mum, Dad and siblings spoke to me on the phone and was encouraging me not to be scared. My Cousins were trying to get me out of my fears and finally i was calm. They made payments for the surgery and a bed space for admission. The receptionist took me and my cousins to my room to wait for the doctor. I was still in pain. Then finally one of the surgeons came with a wheel chair and took me to the theater. When i got there i laid on the theater bed and was given an Anesthesia injection and a sleeping injection which made me unable to feel any pain during the period of the surgery. By the time i woke up the surgery was done. But i wasn't feeling my legs. After the injection worn off i was in pain from the surgery for days .I stayed in the hospital for 4 days with drip  and came back home even though i couldn't walk properly or ate any good food. The only thing i took for the first one week was Lipton without milk or sugar and pap without milk or sugar. Gradually, i started taking mashed potatoes and other food that won't be difficult to digest. 2 weeks later, I went to remove the stitches and the wound began to heal.
